How do cat pheromones work?

Cats naturally produce soothing messages known as feline pheromones. These signals help them recognize their environment as a comfortable and safe place.

FELIWAY® Optimum contains an advanced pheromone complex developed by the FELIWAY® research team. By diffusing throughout the room, it transmits messages of tranquility that can help the cat feel more secure, relaxed and adapted to their home.

It can also promote more harmonious coexistence in multi-cat households.

Easy to use

1. Remove the cap from the refill.
2. Screw the refill into the FELIWAY® diffuser.
3. Plug the diffuser directly into an outlet.
4. Place it in the room where your cat spends the most time.
5. Leave it continuously connected, day and night.

For best results, it is recommended to keep it connected for at least 4 weeks.

Duration and coverage

Each 48 ml refill lasts approximately 30 days and can cover a room of up to 70 m².

In large homes, multi-story houses or very divided spaces, it may be necessary to use more than one diffuser.

The refill should be replaced monthly. It is also recommended to replace the diffuser after approximately 6 months of continuous use or 6 refills.

Where to place the diffuser

Always plug in the diffuser vertically, with the device at the top and the refill below.

There should be a minimum clear space of approximately 1.20 meters above the diffuser.

Avoid installing it:

• Under shelves.
• Behind doors, furniture or curtains.
• In areas with very intense ventilation.
• In multi-socket outlets.
• In power strips or extension cords.
• In a horizontal position.

These locations could prevent pheromones from diffusing correctly throughout the room.

Recommendations for use

Whenever possible, start using FELIWAY® approximately one week before a situation that may cause stress, such as a move, the arrival of another animal, construction, changes in the home or visitors.

Keep the diffuser connected during the situation and continue to use it for at least 4 weeks afterward.

In case of scratching or urine marking, avoid scolding the cat, as punishment can increase its stress level. For specific areas, FELIWAY® spray can also be used as a complement to the diffuser.
